Raiders' surge continues

COAL TOWNSHIP - Zack Oquendo scored 12 points and added nine rebounds as Lourdes Regional improved its record to 12-8 with a 52-40 Schuylkill League Division II win over Schuylkill Haven.

The Red Raiders improved to 12-8 overall and 7-5 in the division, and are still in the running for a league playoff spot. They have already clinched a District Four spot.

Mike Menapace added 10 points for Lourdes, and Zack Chesney had nine points, six rebounds and four assists.

Scott Moyer topped Schuylkill Haven with 11 points.

CATAWISSA R.R. - Brad Fegley led the Tigers with 15 points, but Tyler Krebs was able to hit two foul shots down the stretch and give Selinsgrove the win.

Kristian Klebon added 12 for Southern.

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS - Brandon Bridy had a game-high 12 for Pottsville (19-2, 12-0 D-I) in its Schuylkill League Division I victory. The Crimson Tide wrapped up the Division I championship last week and North Schuylkill, which is in a battle with Blue Mountain and Pine Grove for the league wild card during the final week of regular season, had much more riding on the game.

Brandon McCloskey had 10 points and five rebounds to pace North Schuylkill (15-6, 7-4 D-I) while Damon Meyer added nine points and three assists.

HALIFAX - Kasey Long set a school record with 36 points in Line Mountain's road victory against Bucktail.

With the win, the Eagles (19-0) clinched at least a tie for first place in the District 4 Class A playoff bracket with Lourdes.
