Learn about LIFE Geisinger at seminar

MOUNT CARMEL - LIFE Geisinger-Kulpmont outreach coordinator Marc Varano will present a free informational seminar at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Mount Carmel Senior Action Center, 41 S. Market St.

The presentation, "Maintaining Your Independence: An overview of the LIFE Geisinger program," will focus on how the LIFE Geisinger model of care helps seniors continue to thrive while living at home. Topics will include a summary of the various activities offered at LIFE Geisinger's day health center in Kulpmont, services offered in the home, and program eligibility requirements.

The event is open to the public and is most beneficial to caregivers considering nursing home care for loved ones.

Spaghetti dinner to be held

TREVORTON - A spaghetti dinner will be held starting at noon Saturday, Feb. 4, at Trevorton United Methodist Church, Sixth and Shamokin streets. Snow date is Saturday, Feb. 11. The cost for the meal is $7.50 and includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, tea roll and a homemade dessert.

Open house at Lourdes

COAL TOWNSHIP - In celebration of Catholic Schools Week 2012, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Ave., will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium.

The open house offers the public an opportunity to explore the wide variety of facilities at Lourdes and features tours of the guided by Lourdes Student Ambassadors; registration for new students from Pre-K through 12th grade; scholarship and grant information, and free refreshments.
